Body Found in Chattahoochee

The body of a man was discovered in a Chattahoochee lake last week, prompting local law enforcement officers to partner with state law enforcement in an effort to discover the identity of the man as well as how he came to be in the lake.

According to a report from the Chattahoochee Police Department, at around 5:34 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, officers with the department were informed of a body in the lake at Cypress Cove Park.

The park is located just east of the Florida State Hospital, and north of Highway 90. The park is maintained by state hospital employees and the lake extends upwards into Georgia land.

When officers arrived at the lake, they discovered a deceased black man in the area.

From a report issued on Monday, October 5, the Chattahoochee Police Department says they are still attempting to identify the man and have received aid from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

As this is an ongoing investigation, information pertaining to the discovery of the body and how it came to be in the lake has not yet been released. Police did not specify whether or not they believe any foul play to be involved.
