Gators, Seminoles in college baseball Top Ten rankings

Florida is ranked second and Florida State seventh in the latest National Collegiate Athletic Association national baseball rankings after play last week.

The 18-4 Gators won two of three Southeastern Conference games against South Carolina in Columbia last weekend after taking a 12-6 win over the Seminoles in Gainesville last Tuesday.

Florida State came back to take two of three home games in an Atlantic Coast Conference weekend series with Notre Dame to raise their overall record to 16-4.

Both teams will be busy this week.

Florida hosted Jacksonville Tuesday and will entertain Arkansas in a conference series this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Gators then meet the Seminoles in their annual Jacksonville bash this coming Tuesday.

Before that Florida State would have hosted number-23 Central Florida in a Tuesday and Wednesday series before going to Chapel Hill for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday series with North Carolina.

FAMU has an 11-13 record to date after taking two of three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games from Savannah State last weekend.

The Rattlers have a non-conference weekend series at North Florida Friday, Saturday and Sunday before hosting Mercer next Tuesday.
