June yards of the month provide eye-catching display of color

While cruising through Havana this month, be sure to check out the Havana Garden Club June Yard of the Month winners.

The residential yard of the month was awarded to Scott and Cindy Rawls of 212 Live Oak Lane.

“A neighbor had notified us about this house and it is certainly worthy of a win,” said Havana Garden Club member Dianne Croley. “The entire yard is a riot of color with purple and white agapanthus, yellow day lilies and red roses.”

There is even a waterfall constructed on the side of the house which gives a refreshing sound of a stream flowing over rocks that can be heard from the front porch.

The commercial award goes to Faith Funeral Home at 6972 FL-GA Hwy, which is owned and operated by Scott and Edna Whitehead.

“As we drove up to the funeral home our eyes were drawn to dozens of yellow day lilies lining the driveway and in beds in front of the building,” Croley said. “They are the old fashioned kind with long stems. We learned that Scott had dug them at his grandmother’s house years ago and brought them back to plant at his place of business.”
