Machado leads Munroe past Gadsden in baseball

Jackson Machado threw three-plus hitless innings and batted in three runs in leading Munroe to a 12-1 baseball home-field, mercy-rule win over Gadsden High School Friday night.

Machado came on in relief in the game’s second inning and held the Jaguars at bay and also contributed a key hit in the Bobcats’ third inning as part of a seven-run rally that locked up the Bobcat win.

Jackson Boone had two hits and drove in a run for Munroe and also scored twice.

Freddy Alford and Brayton Rudd also crossed the plate twice for the Bobcats.

Due to Spring Break, the schedule has been light this week.

Saturday, Gadsden plays at Lighthouse Christian and Tuesday they host FAMU. Wednesday Jefferson County comes to Corry Field for a game with the Jaguars.

Tallavana has a game Tuesday at Poplar Springs.

Munroe doesn’t play again until Thursday, March 22nd when they host John Paul II at Bradford May Field.
