Local sorority hosts founder’s luncheon

The Mu Mu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. hosted its inaugural Royal Founders Luncheon May 19, 2018 at the Golf Club of Quincy.
The chapter honored Gadsden County educators for their leadership at their respective schools at the luncheon. The guest speaker was Schantel Minton, president of the Jacksonville, Fla. alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho and an elementary school assistant principal.
Shown holding plaques are honorees (L-R) Kristine Odahowski of the Gadsden County Library System, Tomeka Lightfoot of Gadsden County High, Lauren House of Stewart Street Elementary, and De’Garryan Andrews of Crossroads Charter Academy.
The four honorees unable to attend are Breshaun Chambers and Alaina Davis of Havana Magnet School, Karema Dudley of Stewart Street Elementary and the family of the late Tammy Sherman of Carter Parramore Academy.
The honorees are pictured surrounded by local members of Mu Mu Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. was founded Nov. 12, 1922 on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind. by seven educators.
The goal of the sorority is to achieve progress in education, health awareness and leadership development while serving the wider community, a Mu Mu Sigma press release stated.
