Arsenal Museum in Chattahoochee hosting art opening for exhibition of work by residents of Florida State Hospital

The Beauty from the Brain art exhibit, featuring more than 20 pieces of art from residents of the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee’s Resident Art Group, will have its opening night on Friday, September 21.

The opening night will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum in Chattahoochee (located at 1071 Pecan Lane, Chattahoochee, FL 32324). The exhibit is being presented by the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum Historical Society. Cost for the evening is $20 per person and $35 per couple.

One of the artists being featured in the exhibit is named Edward. According to Jonnie Clarke, one of Edward’s art teachers at the hospital, Edward told her he had never drawn before coming to the hospital in 2012. Edward started more formal art classes at the hospital in 2013.

For more information about this event, call Linda Kranert, coordinator at the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum, at (850) 794-0197.
