Back-to-school sales tax holiday Aug. 3-5

This weekend, school supplies and other back-to-school essentials can be purchased sales tax free, as part of Florida’s annual school sales tax holiday.

The tax-free holiday begins 12:01 a.m., Friday and ends 11:59 p.m., Sunday. Back-to-school shoppers can save sales tax on the following:

• Clothing, footwear and certain accessories priced $60 or less, per item
• Certain school supplies priced $15 or less, per item The following items are not exempt from sales taxes this weekend:
• Any item of clothing priced at more than $60
• Any school supply item selling for more than $15;
• Books that are not otherwise exempt
• Rentals or leases of any eligible items
• Repairs or alterations of any eligible items
• Sales of any eligible items in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport
