Bear Creek having workshop about local trees, plants

If you’re interested in learning how to identify North Florida’s trees and plants without their flowers, consider coming to the third Spring Tree ID Workshop at Bear Creek Educational Forest (8125 Pat Thomas Parkway) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.

The workshop is being put on by the Florida Forest Service and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension Service.

The workshop will appeal to folks at all levels of edu- cation and experience The workshop consists of both in- door and outdoor sessions, including trail hikes along Bear Creek’s various forest communities.

Normal day-use fees to the Bear Creek Hiking Trails will be waived for all workshop attendees.

It’s a free event, but class size is limited, so registration is required. Register by calling (850) 681-5892 or by emailing Tom Gilpin.
