Certified nursing assistant charged with abuse of elderly, disabled resident at Quincy facility

On Thursday, April 19, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested Georgette Pierce, a Certified Nursing Assistant employed at the Magnolia House Assisted Living facility in Quincy.

Pierce, 30, of Bainbridge, Georgia, was charged with felony abuse of an elderly or disabled person 65-or-older in connection with the alleged assault of an 81-year-old disabled resident at the facility.

On April 2, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after the matter was referred by the Florida Department of Adult Protective Services.

The department stated that Pierce physically assaulted the victim when she became resistant to care by grabbing her wrists and allegedly striking the victim on her shoulder to cause severe bruising and skin tears.

On April 19, Pierce admitted to Gadsden County investigators that she was responsible for the injuries on the victim’s wrists but denied any other responsibility.

Sheriff Morris Young stated that “this behavior and any other to our senior citizens will definitely not be tolerated.”
