Citizens request county’s help

A few citizens appeared before the Gadsden County Commission at its meeting last Tuesday evening to request the county’s help.

Alan Dust, of 477 Scotland Road in Quincy, appeared before the board to request help from the county code enforcement officer, who Dust said has promised to look into this situation but has not.

Dust said that the resident in 433 Scotland Road has a second illegal building on his property that people have lived in illegally for periods of time during the past two years.

Commission Chair Brenda Holt advised Dust to contact Interim County Administrator Dee Jackson so the issue could be placed on the agenda at a future commission meeting to allow it to be voted on by the commissioners.

Kirk Douglas and Roderick Whitehurst of the Greenshade community in Quincy also appeared before the commission to request financial and material help for the new Dogtown-Greenshade Volunteer Fire Department.
