County baseball teams off to exciting start of season

Munroe’s baseball team racked up 18 runs in a mercy rule home win over FAMU High last Thursday to even its early-season record at 1-1.

Jackson Machado was the winning pitcher in the game, fanning eight in the shortened contest. Trip Alford and Jackson Boone led the offense with two hits each.

Alford knocked in four runs with his hits and Boone plated a pair.

The Bobcats had opened the season losing at Rickards 12-2 last Tuesday.

Munroe played at Wakulla Christian Tuesday and will trek to Pensacola to play Washington on Friday and Escambia High on Saturday. Tuesday they play at Florida High.

Gadsden County opened its season at Poplar Springs on Friday, losing 20-19. The Jaguars played at Jefferson County yesterday (Wednesday).

The Jaguars will host Poplar Springs at Corry Field in Quincy today and will host Marianna on Tuesday.

Tallavana Christian will host Wakulla Christian on Monday and will play at FAMU High on Tuesday.
