County launches Extreme Makeover Park Edition

The Gadsden County Parks and Recreation Department announced that the county will host it’s first-ever Extreme Makeover Park Edition on Saturday, June 1, at Shiloh Park in Quincy from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

“We’re inviting community members to come out and help us Love Where We Live by doing an extreme makeover cleanup at Shiloh Park,” Newly appointed Gadsden County Parks and Recreation Department Director Shawanna Moye said.  “We want our residents and visitors who visit and play in our parks to enjoy themselves in a clean and safe environment. Shiloh is the first park Gadsden County will be performing an extreme makeover on as part of the county’s Love Where You Live campaign. We’ll supply all supplies necessary, including litter pickers, bags, and gloves.”

The Love Where You Live Campaign was created by the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners to engage the community in reducing litter and pollution in the county. The Gadsden County Parks and Recreation Department plans more Extreme Makeover Park Editions throughout the summer.

“The goal of these cleanups is to ensure we keep Gadsen County Beautiful and educate park visitors to use the appropriate receptacles,” Moye said. “Wherever possible, we can encourage people to take home what they bring to the park, and that will certainly help prevent garbage cans from potentially overflowing.”

All participants are not just encouraged but urged to share their cleanup fun by taking photos and posting them on social media using the hashtags #love-gadsdencountyparks and #extrememakeoverparkeditiongadsdencounty Shiloh Park is located at 100 Park Lane in Quincy.
