Dekle new editor of The Herald

Brian Dekle has been named editor of The Herald. Dekle joins The Herald after a two-year stint at On the Edge Brands in Moultrie, Georgia, where he worked in product development, media relations and social media marketing. Dekle is no stranger to Gadsden County news, having twiceworked for the Gadsden County Times. Before that he was a reporter for The Cairo Messenger in Cairo, Georgia. Dekle attended Appalachian State University in North Carolina and the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where he studied journalism and molecular biology and was features and entertainment editor of the Branding Iron, the university newspaper. He was also graphics editor and assistant general editor of Frontiers, a student magazine. After returning from Wyoming he worked as a docent and public relations specialist at Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium in Panacea, Florida. He and his wife, Katelyn, own a farm in Calvary, Georgia, just across the border from Coon Bottom and just north of Havana, where he raises exotic snakes and is a novice beekeeper. He is also a musician and plays guitar, violin, piano, mandolin, French horn, trumpet and harmonica.
