Downtown landscaping motion dies

On April 5, the Quincy City Commission put out a bid for the replacement of existing holly trees within the nine-block downtown business district with crepe myrtles.

Jamie Castro Landscaping offered a bid to remove the 70 holly trees and plant crepe myrtles for $56,000. Xscapes Inc. bid $147,000.

Quincy staff asked that Jamie Castro Landscaping be awarded the bid, with the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency underwriting much of the cost.

A motion was so made ay Quincy’s April 23 meeting but no second was received, so the motion died.
