Fun in the Sun: Salem United Methodist’s “Water Wednesday”

Last Wednesday, the Salem United Methodist Church (located at 208 E. 9th Avenue in downtown Havana) held a Back-to-School Water Wednesday open to all children in the community. The event was a new one for the church that was the brainchild of Misty Floyd, the church’s new children’s and youth ministry coordinator. The event consisted of activities such as slip-and-slide kickball; a dunk tank to sink Pastor Curtiss Cain; water balloons; a kiddie pool; toddler water activities; adult foot soaking; and a free homemade dinner prepared  by church members. The event is part of a new initiative in which the church plans on developing the Wednesday, 5:30 to 7 p.m. time slot as one in which locals will get used to the church holding family-friendly events for the entire community. For more information about the church or its activities, visit www.salemumchavana.org or call (850) 539-6634.
