Gadsden High student gets Quarterback Club scholarship

Josiah Porter of Gadsden County High School was one of 15 local scholarship winners this year of scholarships awarded by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

Each scholarship ranged in size from $6,500 to $13,000.

Since 1994, the Foundation has given away around $2 million dollars to area high schoolers.

The scholarship winners were recognized on Saturday, February 10 at the 24th annual Biletnikoff Award Banquet at the University Club Center at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

The Foundation has given out a total of more than 200 scholarships to local students.

The Foundation’s charitable mission is to provide college or vocational scholarships to North Florida high school seniors who have overcome significant barriers to achieve at the highest academic and extracurricular levels.

A supporting partner foundation — The Southern Scholarship Foundation — makes a highly valuable housing grant available to each eligible scholar as well.
