Gadsden teachers travel for reading symposium

A whopping 55 Gadsden County educators recently boarded a school bus and traveled to Panama City to attend Bay County’s Reading by the Bay 33rd annual Red Carpet Symposium.

The morning started off with a continental breakfast, followed by a host of educational vendors.\ Immediately following, the break-out sessions began. Topics ranged from Closing the Content/Literacy Gap, How Dialogue Promotes Student Growth, Cluster Teaching, and Reaching the Unreachable Student, to Intervention for Struggling Readers, and Career and College Readiness.

For lunch, there were several food trucks to choose from.

After a couple more topics on Close Reading and Triumph over FSA, the teachers received a chance to listen to guest speaker. Joe Dormbowski, from Chicago.

Gadsden County won the first-place trophy for having the most out-of-county teachers to attend the event.
