Garden Club announces October Yards of the Month

The Havana Garden Club recently announced which two local yards – one residential and one commercial – have been nominated for the recognition of October Yards of the Month.

The Residential Yard of the Month belongs to Lynda Wilson and her Havana Highway home.

This cute home and its festive lawn, owned by Lynda Wilson, has been selected as the Residential Yard of the Month by the Havana Garden Club.

According to the garden club’s Dianne Croley, Wilson’s yard was selected due to the festive decor placed in the yard.

Croley says that Wilson had not been nominated for the award, but rather that Havana Harden Club members spotted her yard while driving through the area recently.

“Driving into Havana on Havana Highway, we noticed a cute cottage style house with a stunning fall display of mums and pumpkins arranged on an antique wagon in the front yard,” writes Croley. “We stopped and met the owner, Lynda Wilson and let her know she was being awarded yard of the month for October.”

Havana businesses also look forward to being recognized for their decorated, cared for and beautiful storefront lawns, and the garden club proudly announced that Lallybroch & Co Hairdressers has been selected for the October honor.

October’s Commercial Yard of the Month, selected by the Havana Garden Club, belongs to Lallybroch & Co Hairdressers, which is owned by Tabitha Nelson.

The salon, owned by Tabitha Nelson, is located at 202 1st Street Northwest in Downtown Havana.

“Tabatha just opened her shop in May and she has really brightened up her little corner of town with her lovely pot of flowers and hanging planters on her railings,” writes Croley, further advising locals to ‘stop in’ and offer a warm Havana-welcome to one of the town’s newer business owners.

If you would like to nominate someone or yourself for the November Yard of the Month, call Dianne Croley at (850) 539-8191.

The nominated yard (residential or commercial) must be within the 32333 zip code. All applicable nominations will be considered.
