After shooting themselves in the foot Sunday night the defending NCAA baseball champion Florida Gators could well be home by the time this issue of the Herald hits the streets.
At Tuesday deadline time Florida was getting ready to play Texas in an elimination game in the College World Series in Omaha. Gator’s starter Brady Singer pitched well enough Sunday in the 6-3 loss to Texas Tech in their opening game of the series.
But, Singer got little help as Florida errors kept him in jams helping Tech score 4 unearned runs. As of Tuesday, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tech, and Arkansas were unbeaten.
The Gators had a deep hole to pull out of if they wanted to repeat as champions.
