Harper wins home run derby

In an exciting event, before an adoring home crowd, Bryce Harper captured the 2018 T-Mobile Home Run Derby crown Monday night.

Harper took out all three of his competitors in walk off style to win the event at Nationals Field in Washington, D.C., home of this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The Nationals star took out Atlanta’s Freddy Freeman 13-12 in the first round, and topped the Dodgers’ Max Muncy by the same score in round two.

That set the stage for the finals against Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs. Schwarber pounded 18 homers in his time at the plate before Harper wrapped up the event with 19 bombs, making it a party night for the town.

Adding to the moment was the fact that Harper’s pitcher was his dad, Ron, who has probably thrown him an astronomical number of pitches before. The Derby was a prelude to the All-Star Game which was held Tuesday.
