Havana to hold election for town council members

Residents of the Town of Havana will have the opportunity to vote on the seats of four Town Council members later this year.

The seats of Havana’s Group 4, 5, 6, and 7 will be up for election in April.

The elected officials currently holding those seats are Nick Bert (Group 4), Janice Hart (Group 5), Eddie Bass (Group 6), and Warkeen Jordan (Group 7).

As the qualifying period for the election has not yet begun, none of the current officials have yet re-qualified to run for re-election of their position.

The qualifying period will begin on March 14 and end on March 18 at noon.

Any citizen residing in the Town of Havana and being a registered elector may qualify to be a candidate in the election – qualifications are done through the Gadsden County Supervisor of Elections office.

In order to qualify, potential candidates must provide a financial disclosure, a candidate oath, appointment of their campaign treasurer, fine notice, and statement of candidate – all required forms may be obtained from the supervisor’s office.

All votes for the town council race can be cast at either Havana Town Hall or the Supervisor of Elections office (located in Quincy) in April.

Vote by mail ballots will also be made available for this race.
