Sheriff’s Office has meeting to discuss what to do with the old Quincy Police building

Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young held a meeting at the Sheriff’s Office in Quincy on Thursday, March 22 to discuss what to do with the old Quincy Police Station building he recently came across at the intersection of State Road 12 and U.S. 90 West near Douglas City.

Major Robert Barkley of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office said the meeting went well and that his office is in the preliminary planning stages of restoring the Old Quincy Police Department building.

Kiddie Peacock, one of Quincy’s historians, had much information to offer at the meeting and ideas for funding to support the restoration.

As of now, there has not been a location put forth as to where to move the building.

However, it was decided that the building cannot go back on the courthouse square in downtown Quincy.
