Joe Ferolito Column: Week of March 29, 2018

Joe picking the Cinderella team in the Final Four

I continued getting half of the next round picks right last week in the road to the Final Four National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Championship. From what was left last week I picked Gonzaga, Loyola of Chicago, Duke and Villanova to make it to San Antonio this weekend.

FSU took care of the Gonzaga pick Thursday night, before the Seminoles lost to Michigan on Saturday.

Loyola continued to be the Cinderella at the dance as they topped Nevada and Kansas State in Sweet Sixteen play to earn their way to Texas.

Duke had a good chance to make it, losing to Kansas in overtime on Sunday, thus getting the Jayhawks Alamo Dome-bound.

Villanova pretty much had their own way, grounding down West Virginia and Texas Tech in Sweet Sixteen play to have their south Texas bags packed. So the final games are set and they should be something else. Saturday’s battles have Loyola and Michigan scrapping and Kansas squaring off with Villanova.

I’m picking the Ramblers to do the Wolverines in, and Villanova to eke by the Jayhawks in a real barn-burner in the semifinals. The Chicago team will then best a spent Villanova team Monday night to win it all.

Yeah, I’m picking Cinderella. The Loyola team has the magical sneakers this year.
