Join Quincy’s “Wordsmitten” Book Club for books, wine and more

Enjoy wine, food, and tidbits of news about an author’s life, writing style, and sassy secrets at the WordSmitten Book and Wine Club.

The next book club meets from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 21. All avid readers, along with weekend readers and book lovers, are invited to join. This month’s book selection is by author and George Saunders, who is a 2006 MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant recipient.

George Saunders received a B.Sc. (1981) from the Colorado School of Mines and an M.A. (1988) from Syracuse University, where he is a professor of creative writing. His fiction has appeared in such publications as the New Yorker, Harper’s, and Esquire.

For book purchases for the club’s selections, visit our favorite independent bookstore, Midtown Reader, in Tallahassee. Mention WordSmitten Book Club for a 10 percent discount off monthly book selections.

Hosted by Damfino’s Café in Historic Quincy Florida, the book club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 18 North Adams Street, Quincy, Florida 32351. To reserve a spot, search online for WordSmitten Book Club, things to do in Quincy on Eventbrite.com, or stop by Damfino’s restaurant in Quincy and ask for Lucy Harris.
