Land of the Gingerbread – The City of Quincy hosts its annual Christmas parade.

Festive colors, holiday music, and even snow set the tone and made it feel a lot like Christmas on Friday, Dec. 8, as the City of Quincy held its annual Christmas parade.

The parade was originally set for Dec. 1, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Last Friday, crowds lined the street along the parade route.

This year’s theme was “The Land of the Gingerbread.”

The parade Grand Marshall this year was Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University Head Football Coach Willie Simmons, his wife, Shai Simmons and their family.

Many participated in the parade, as they came past the judges stage located at the end of the parade route in front of Capital City Bank.

After the parade, there was a stage set up with live music, in addition to the announcement of this year’s winners for float decorations. Third Place went to the City of Quincy, Second Place went to the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners, and the First Place trophy went to the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. This makes two years in a row the Sheriff’s Office has taken home the top prize.
