Library honors African American History Month

During the month of February, the Gadsden County Public Library honored African American History Month.

Some of the activities that have been celebrated included a Black History Trivia Night at the Havana Public Library on February 5. At this event, local youth participated in educational redial games for prizes as well as enjoying refreshments.

On February 7, the William A. “Bill” McGill Library in Quincy hosted the African Caribbean Dance Theater. Participants enjoyed a lively and spirited performance with drummers and dancers in African attire.

This event was co-sponsored with the Mu Mu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated.

The events were coordinated by the library’s former reference librarian, Melissa Sykes. The staff of the Gadsden County Public Library wish Sykes luck on her new journey.
