Munroe baseball tops Gadsden

Munroe 10, Gadsden 7

The Munroe and Gadsden High baseball teams met at Corry Field Friday night in Quincy and the Bobcats used a three-run seventh to pull out a 10-7 win.

Jackson Boone, Dashiell Bassett and Seth Jones had two-hit games for Munroe with Bassett and Jones driving in two runs apiece.

Freddy Alford pitched the first 4-plus innings, striking out six, and Benjamin Fletcher finished up and got the win with a three-plus-inning pitched, four-strikeout performance.

Tyreke Sparks, Jamel Gedeo and Ronnie Smith had two hits apiece for the Jaguars in the game.

Gadsden wins two mercy-rule games

Gadsden High won a pair of mercy-rule games earlier in the week, dusting off FAMU Tuesday 18-6 and besting Jefferson County 18-5 on Thursday.

Tyravio Dubose had a big offensive game for Gadsden by rapping four hits, including a double and a triple, and driving in six runs.

Dubose was the winning pitcher in the Jefferson County game, going three innings and racking up four strikeouts.

Munroe drops close one to John Paul II

Munroe also had played earlier in the week, losing a tough home game to John Paul II 6-4 on Thursday. Freddy Alford and Stephen Burdick collected three hits each for Munroe.

Tallavana Christian

In other play last week, Tallavana Christian lost a home game to FAMU Friday by a 17-7 score. This week’s schedule This week, Gadsden played at Marianna Tuesday and will play at Godby Friday before hosting Malone on Tuesday. Munroe will host Aucilla Christian in a big district game today (Thursday).
