News Brief: Financial assistance available for invasive aquatic weed control

The Gadsden County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a program to assist private landowners in their efforts to control infestations of troublesome and invasive aquatic weeds in ponds they own and manage. The weed control cost share program will accept applications immediately. Any private landowner within Gadsden County who has at least one acre of land with a pond on it is eligible to participate. To verify ownership of the pond to be treated through the program, the applicant’s land must be on the Gadsden County property appraiser website property roll. Funding for the weed control cost share program is limited and applications will be reviewed at the monthly district meetings. For more information or to request an application, contact Pam Tribue at the Gadsden Extension Office. Stop by the office, 2140 W. Jefferson St., Quincy, or call (850) 875-7255.
