Instead of hosting individual back-to-school gatherings in different parts of the county as it has done in the past, this year the Gadsden County School District will sponsor one major district-wide Back-to-School Rally, which will feature a football scrimmage played by the Florida A&M Rattlers.
The rally is 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Corry Field, on the campus of James A. Shanks Middle School, 1400 W. King St. The Rattler scrimmage follows at 3:30 p.m., also on Corry Field. The rally will feature fun activities, food and giveaways of books, bookbags and other school supplies for Gadsden County students and/or parents/guardians.
The rally was scheduled in anticipation of the first day of school for Gadsden County public school students, Monday, Aug. 13. For more information, call the school district offices at (850) 627-9651.
