Timothy Lee Poppell, 56, of Prince George, VA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
The Florida native and former resident of Havana, Florida had lived in Prince George County, Va. the past 31 years.
He was a loving husband, father, and member The Heights Baptist Church of Colonial Heights, VA.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Nuclear Submarine Service for 8 years.
A graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelors in Religious Studies and a graduate of the Liberty Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Religion, he held leadership roles in several churches.
He was a 30-plus year employee of Dominion Energy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Laura Norris and father-in-law, Edwin L. Tench. Jr.
Survivors include his loving and beautiful wife, Mary Tench Poppell; daughter, Caitlin Elise Poppell and son, Caleb Nathaniel Poppell; his father, Raymond Billie Poppell, brothers Douglas Ray Poppell and Henry “Bubba” Poppell, all of Havana, FL; his mother-in-law, Marjorie P. Tench; brother-in-law, Edwin “Jackie” Tench III, sisters-in-law Cheryl T. Mayes (Frank), Katherine T. Hopkins (David), Jeannie T. Schelin (Joe) along with several nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. Monday June 25, 2018, at Powers Memorial Baptist Church in Hopewell, Va. with Pastor Randall T. Hahn, Pastor Guy W. Murdock and Bro. Stephen Pinkerton officiating.
Interment will be in Merchant Hope Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home.
