Obituary: William Edward “Ed” Batts

William Edward “Ed” Batts 85, of Havana, FL passed away on February 5, 2018 at his residence.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Concord Cemetery.

Family will receive friends after the service.

Mr. Batts was born August 21,1932 in Wilson, N.C. the son of the late Ivis H. Batts and the late Mabel Scott Batts.

He served in the National Guard for nine years.

He was operations manager for Woodbery-Delacy Tobacco Co. (Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Co.) and a farmer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and his family.

He is survived by: wife Helen Kent Batts of Havana; his sons Michael E. Batts (Karen) and Brice Kent Batts (Sarah); Granddaughter Monica Brescia (Brad); Grandsons Michael Batts, Jr. (Amanda), Christopher Batts (Cassie), and Clayton Batts; Great-Grandson Hudson Brescia; his sister Anna Ruth Tingle of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a niece and several nephews.
