Quincy artists featured in international exhibition

Paintings by two Quincy artists – William H. McKeown and Dean Mitchell – will be showcased in the 2018 International Exhibition in Quindao, China. McKeown and Mitchell’s pieces are among just 123 accepted into the exhibition, which features works by artists from around the globe. McKeown, an accomplished watercolorist and fifth-generation Gadsden County native, submitted “The Ship Doctor,” a watercolor painting that recalls life in Florida’s “Forgotten Coast.” Dean Mitchell, one of America’s most renowned artists, was raised in Quincy by his grandmother Marie Brooks. Mitchell entered “Shotgun Houses,” which depicts aging homes characteristic of the rural south The 2018 International Exhibition is organized by the Missouri Watercolor Society.
