Quincy police seek public’s assistance in reported fatal shooting

Investigators with the Quincy Police Department are requesting any information that the general public may have regarding a reported shooting that took place this week at Gadsden Arms Apartments.

According to the report from the police department, officers were called out to the apartment complex (which is located at 427 South Stewart Street, in Quincy) at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11.

When officers arrived at the scene, they report that they found a 25-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Capital Regional Medical Center’s Gadsden Campus, where he was later pronounced dead.

At this time, the name of the victim is not being released by law enforcement officials under the protections of Marsy’s Law.

“There is limited information about the case. We are working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Sheriff’s Office to gather evidence,” said Quincy Police Department’s Captain Robert Mixson. “We are seeking the help of the community for any information about the incident.”

Any citizen who may have information related to this shooting is asked to make a call to Big Bend Crime Stoppers at (850) 574- TIPS. 

Citizens can elect to remain anonymous when reporting information.

Should a citizen relay information that leads to an arrest, that citizen will be eligible for a reward up to $5,000.
