Softball World Series: Seminoles one game away from winning it all Tuesday

Refusing to go away from the Women’s College World Softball Series, Florida State entered Tuesday night’s game needing just one win to reclaim the 2018 title.

Meghan King threw a five-hit shutout and Anna Shelnutt smacked a fifth-inning home run giving the Seminoles a 1-0 win over Washington in the first game of the best two-of-three format Monday night, setting the FSU team up to need just one more win to claim their first softball national title.

The Seminoles lost their first game in the tournament Thursday 7-4 to UCLA. They bounced back Saturday to eliminate Georgia 7-2 and Oregon 4-1. Sunday they returned the favor to UCLA downing the Bruins 3-1 and 12-6 to reach the series final.
