West Gadsden students learn cooking safety and grilling techniques

West Gadsden Middle School Culinary Arts students learned grilling techniques and outdoor cooking safety on “National Kids Take Over the Kitchen Day” last Thursday. Lee Jackson, a parent at the school and a local food truck vendor, volunteered and instructed sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders on how to prepare fresh, well done (160 degrees), 6 oz. bacon cheddar burgers. Lucky’s Market in Tallahassee prepared the beef patties Thursday morning. Greensboro and Quincy students also enjoyed the area’s hallmark Coca Cola. The Career and Technical Education Program at the school allows students a head start for college and career preparation. Photos by Dionne Davis
